Eyelid Surgery - Blepharoplasty
Your eyelid surgery will be performed by Board Certified Plastic
Surgeon, Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS, in our fully accredited
outpatient surgical facility in Manhattan, New York.
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, can enhance your appearance and
your self-confidence by eliminating droopy or sagging eyelids. As
people age the eyelid stretches, muscles weaken, and fat accumulates
around the eyes, causing "bags", or excess skin to become prominent.
During your complimentary consultation with Board Certified Plastic
Surgeon, Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS,he will assess which of the
four eyelids (top and bottom for both eyes) require the procedure.
The best candidates for eyelid surgery are men and women who are
physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in their
expectations. Generally patients for this procedure are 35 years or
older. However, if sagging eyelids run in your family, it may be
advisable to have eyelid surgery at a younger age.
Traditional eyelid surgery is commonly performed by Board Certified
Plastic Surgeon, Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS, to improve drooping
upper eyelids and remove puffy bags of the lower lids. These
characteristics often make people look tired, unenthusiastic and
appear older than their age.
The traditional eyelid surgery procedure is the second most common
aesthetic surgery performed today on men and women, according to the
American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. While it
does a good job at addressing the problems described above, there
are other cosmetic concerns, such as crow's feet around the eyes
which are not necessarily corrected with traditional eyelid surgery.
Laser skin resurfacing in combination with BOTOX®® injections around
the eyes can be done in combination with eyelid surgery.
There are variations of the eyelid surgery operation including
transconjunctival eyelid surgery, laser resurfacing eyelid surgery,
and lower eyelid resuspension surgery. Board Certified Plastic
Surgeon, Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS, will discuss all these
options with you.
Eyelid surgery is routinely performed on patients from their early
twenties through their seventies. The eyelid surgery procedure is
performed in our fully accredited surgical facility in Manhattan.
If you have any questions about eyelid surgery (transconjunctival
eyelid surgery, laser resurfacing eyelid surgery, and lower eyelid
resuspension surgery) or any other plastic surgery procedure please
feel free to contact us at our Manhattan or Westchester offices.

What about insurance?
Eyelid problems are common, even in younger people. Correcting
eyelid problems that interfere with your vision may be covered by
your health insurance. However, when eyelid surgery is performed for
cosmetic reasons, it may not be covered in part or in whole by your
health insurance. We will help you determine if your insurance
provider provides eyelid surgery coverage.
Can anyone undergo eyelid surgery?
As with all facial cosmetic surgery, good health and realistic
expectations are prerequisites. People with circulatory,
ophthalmologic, or serious medical conditions must rely on the
diagnostic skills of their own personal specialists to determine
